Selimović, Vilić, Čampara, Sarajlić and Petrić to testify in "Zubac" case

Goran Zubac, Director of the Agency for Investigations and Protection (SIPA) appeared this morning at 9 AM at the main hearing before the judges of Department II for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, reports the reporter of the BH News Agency Patria.

After the standard procedure and answering the questions of the presiding judge, a new hearing has been scheduled for October 2nd at 9 AM, when the following will appear as witnesses for the BiH Prosecutor's Office: prosecutors Dubravko Čampara and Saša Sarajlić, former Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies Himzo Selimović, and current ones Mirsad Vilić and Josip Petrić from the Federal Police Administration. The BiH Prosecutor's Office has announced a total of 27 witnesses in the "Zubac" case.

Otherwise, today prosecutor Miroslav Marković announced that witness testimony from experts is planned during the trial, as well as the analysis of video recordings. Evidence will also include items seized on February 7, 2014, telephone communications between DKPT and SIPA, investigation records, photo documentation, a crime scene sketch, and documentation regarding injured police officers will be reviewed...)

Marković also stated that during the violent demonstrations, damage to state property amounted to 398,365.18 KM.

Goran Zubac's lawyer, Dragiša Jokić, stated in his address to judge Mirsad Strika that the BiH Prosecutor's Office has no evidence that the accused committed the crime he is charged with.

- The quality and quantity of evidence will depend on the prosecutor, or this will turn into an investigation of the events of 07.02.2014 - said Jokić.

He also stated that the primary task of the BiH Court is to determine whether the accused had an obligation to provide assistance, and if he had such an obligation, whether such a decision would violate laws and regulations.

On June 16, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment charging the accused Zubac with the criminal offense of dereliction of duty.

The indictment states, among other things, that the accused Zubac, as an official in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consciously violated laws and other regulations, and acted obviously negligently in the performance of his duties, resulting in property damage exceeding 10,000 KM. Zubac ignored the requests of the then Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, Himzo Selimović, to engage the Special Support Unit of SIPA on February 7 to protect the BiH Presidency building.

As a reminder, Zubac did not appear in the BiH Court last week. Allegedly, he felt "uncomfortable coming because the presence of SIPA special forces around the Court building could be interpreted as his pressure on the Court and that he had engaged them because of himself????

The presiding judge in this case scheduled a new hearing for today, emphasizing that Zubac will be brought in if he does not appear.

Upon leaving the BiH Court, Zubac and his lawyer were not willing to give statements.
