Coach Mulaomerović's decision: Teletović not traveling to Sweden

The Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a press conference today regarding the unfortunate events that occurred towards the end of last night's match against Russia in Mejdan.

At the conference, the national team coach Damir Mulaomerović and Management Board member Sejo Bukva addressed the attendees.

- I felt the need to address you after last night's events and clarify some things. Mirza left the locker room on his own initiative after the game and said he was done with the national team. Today, he held a press conference without my permission. I did not allow him to leave the national team camp – Mulaomerović said.

- I think the captain of a team, the way he behaved towards the end of the game, has no right to behave or do the things he did. As captain, he should not leave the team; he is the last person who should leave the national team. I will not agree with that. None of this is justifiable. We represent our country here, not ourselves. We must be mindful of how we behave. Regarding professionalism, order, and discipline, how can we maintain order and discipline if the captain does not adhere to these principles? When he called me at the beginning of preparations and asked if he could arrive on the 17th.

I don't dispute that he is the best, but Mirza is not traveling to Sweden tomorrow. We made this decision to protect everyone's integrity. He left the national team of which he is the captain – he added.

The coach also stated that Teletović made so many untrue statements and showed disrespect towards professionalism at today's conference.

- That makes no sense. He was late for training and missed sponsor commitments. Is that order, work, and discipline? – Mulaomerović claims.
