Selective approach of the FBiH Government: 2.76 million KM for Mostar city areas where HDZ wins mandates, zero for others

(Patria) - Over the past three years, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has allocated funds in the amount of 2.76 million KM for specific projects in the City of Mostar, but only for city areas where HDZ wins all its mandates in the City Council - West, Southwest and South.

For the other three city areas - North, Old Town and Southeast - no funds have been allocated, writes Istraga.ba.

The mentioned funds were allocated for a total of seven projects in city areas where HDZ wins almost all its votes - West, Southwest and South.

The latest Decision on the distribution of funds determined by the budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025 to the federal Ministry of Finance from the economic code "Capital transfers to other levels of government and funds - cantons and municipalities" was published in the Official Gazette of FBiH on 12.12.2025 and refers to five of the eight projects for which funds were allocated in the last three years.



For asphalt paving and construction of stormwater drainage in Ortiješ, 200,000 KM was allocated. For the construction of a sports hall at Kruševo Elementary School, 500,000 KM. The FBiH Government allocated 250,000 KM for the revitalization of SRC Buna Bunica, and 700,000 KM for the construction of a kindergarten in the Rodoč settlement.

Two years earlier, the Government allocated funds for the reconstruction of the intersection of dr. Ante Starčevića and Kardinala Stepinca streets (intersection near Hotel "Ero") in the amount of 310,000 KM, while for the reconstruction and repurposing of Kralja Petra Krešimira Street near the Rondo, it allocated 1,000,000 KM.

Two projects relate to the entire city area and cannot be specifically tied to one city area with a total amount of 700,000 KM. Funds in the amount of 300,000 KM were allocated for the development of the city's traffic infrastructure, improving the quality of life of citizens and tourist offerings, and 400,000 KM for improving the waste collection and management system.

In this regard, DF representative in the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HDZ) Arman Zalihić commented on his Facebook, saying that he is not surprised that HDZ did not want to allocate a single mark for city areas where it does not win mandates, but that this is too much even for the Troika.

"It is incredible that, for example, citizens of the Old Town, where they generate 80 percent of their election result, are rewarded with 0 KM of projects. That is supposedly that 'city that unites'," wrote Zalihić.

At the Local Elections held in 2024, HDZ won three mandates in the Southwest city area, and the Croatian Republican Party one. Other parties did not win any.



In the West city area, HDZ won five mandates, and other Croatian national parties two. No civic or Bosniak national party won any mandate in this city area.



In the South city area, HDZ won one mandate, and other Croatian national parties also one. No civic or Bosniak national party won any mandate.
