Sebija Izetbegović is destroying the memory of everything Nakaš did for Sarajevo by closing the General Hospital

Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, current director of the Sarajevo hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš“, is almost certainly coming to the position of General Director of the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Besides her doctoral title, a significant help for Izetbegović on her path to the leading position in UKCS is the fact that she is the wife of Bakir Izetbegović, a member of the BiH Presidency. Her desire to control healthcare in the country dates back a long time, but due to the previous political situation, she did not succeed and was then satisfied with "only" the position of director of the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš.“

Izetbegović was supposed to become the director of KCUS (now UKCS) back in 2012, but the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was too strong in BiH at that time, so Dr. Damir Aganović, who had the support of this party, was appointed as the head of KCUS and held this position for a little over two years.

After Dr. Aganović was suddenly dismissed from this position, Izetbegović still hoped for this position, but her wish was not fulfilled even then. However, she is ready for anything this third time to avoid new surprises.

Under the leadership of the Government of FBiH, headed by Fadil Novalić, a plan is ready: the General Hospital is being closed, or rather, merged with UKCS, and everything is happening under the guise of healthcare reform, and Izetbegović is taking over the position at UKCS, to which the current General Hospital will be attached.

All this happened systematically, so first the Government of the Federation of BiH abruptly dismissed the members of the Management Board of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo. Although the Government sent a brief statement after the session that the Management Board was dismissed due to the expiration of the members' mandates, those familiar with the events surrounding UKCS know that this is an illegal decision.

Not all members of the Management Board had their mandates expired, but that did not stop the ministers from SDA, HDZ BiH, and SBB from voting for the decision served to them by Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, following the directive of SDA president Bakir Izetbegović and his wife Sebija Izetbegović.

With the dismissal of the Management Board members and the appointment of new ones, the path was paved for the dismissal of the now former director of UKCS, Prof. Dr. Rusmir Mesihović, who was appointed to that position through a competition on January 14, 2015. We remind you that Mesihović resigned himself due to immense pressure.

The Government of FBiH continued with the plan to unite the hospitals and formed an "expert" group of 10 women to develop a plan and analysis for the merger of the two institutions. The working group consists of Zilha Ademaj, Minister of Health of KS, Sebija Izetbegović, Director of the General Hospital, Enra Suljić, acting director of UKCS, Edita Kalajdžić, Secretary of the Government of FBiH, Snježana Bodnaruk (FMZ), Safeta Borovac (ZZO KS) (dismissed due to mandate expiration), Muvedeta Butmir-Čedić (General Hospital), Alma Pehlić (Management Board UKCS), Amra Karić (Management Board UKCS and employee of UKCS), and Sanela Adžović (Government of FBiH).

The Medical Chamber has issued strong criticism regarding the competence of the working group members and the fact that there are no representatives of doctors from the Chamber in this working group.

However, both the Chamber and the General Hospital are aware that the ambitious, and moreover, unscrupulous Sebija Izetbegović Seka, will not give up on her plans.

We remind you that upon taking office, she introduced a reign of terror and ordered the removal of all photographs from the walls of the General Hospital that testified to the time of the late Abdulah Nakaš, who saved lives in besieged Sarajevo with superhuman efforts.

Even the water supply to the memorial monument located in the hospital grounds was cut off, and no employee was allowed to come out and pay their respects on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Nakaš's death. We remind you that at the initiative of the citizens of KS, the General Hospital has borne the name Abdulah Nakaš since 2006, and by merging with UKCS, this trace of memory of a great man and humanitarian of Sarajevo will also be erased.

Incidentally, as the media previously reported, Izetbegović barely finished medical school in Sarajevo before the war, with a miserable average grade. After graduating, she volunteered at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery, and later, as a resident, she was accepted into the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics.

According to employees of the Clinic for Gynecology, Sebija Izetbegović was an average resident and doctor, which did not pose a problem for her in her professional or academic career. Namely, after the outbreak of the war, Sebija Izetbegović went to Croatia, where her professional advancement was ensured by the well-known gynecologist Asim Kurjak.

There are conflicting opinions about Izetbegović's expertise, her career, and her medical achievements, but the question arises as to how moral it is to insist that the wife of a member of the BiH Presidency, and thus the first lady, take charge of the largest hospital in BiH.

While first ladies around the world, who are highly educated and have interrupted their careers to dedicate themselves to social obligations and humanitarian work, in BiH it is clearly more important to satisfy personal ambitions and frustrations than the general interest of all citizens of BiH.
