The national affiliation in the case of FBiH Government ministers is not an issue for the Central Election Commission because these are appointed, not elected positions, said Vehid Šehić, former member of the CEC, for the BH News Agency Patria.
He stated that from a moral standpoint, it is much more important, as nationalities are being changed for the sake of positions.
- We have fallen into a moral quagmire and we do not choose people based on quality but on whether they are Bosniak, Croat, or Serb. This is a human right, but no one has the right to abuse that right. Then there is no trust, and that should be morally forbidden – said Šehić.
The national affiliation of candidates for ministers in the FBiH Government became problematic on Thursday after the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, where the government was supposed to be confirmed, was canceled due to a "surplus" of one Serb and a lack of candidates from other constituent peoples.
Although information emerged that some candidates declared differently in the General Elections than they are now, the CEC is not competent to react in this case.
Now everything is up to the leaders of the coalition parties SDA, DF, and HDZ BiH, and it was previously determined that the sixth position of HDZ candidate Zora Dujmović is contentious. This was also confirmed by Safet Kešo from the FBiH Parliament's Election and Appointment Commission, stating that the Collegium discussed that name.
