Seven new infections in Sarajevo Canton, four deaths

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the past 24 hours, 383 people were tested for coronavirus in Sarajevo Canton, seven new infections were confirmed, and 12 people recovered from Covid infection.

Unfortunately, during yesterday, four people died from the consequences of the coronavirus.

Of the mentioned number of newly infected, four belong to family clusters or contacts with previously infected persons, which is why they have been in self-isolation since earlier.

Currently, 65 patients are hospitalized in Sarajevo Canton, 27 at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 38 at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš”. One patient is on a respirator at KCUS. At the same time, one patient at the General Hospital is using oxygen support above 15 liters per minute at KCUS. In the past 24 hours, no one has been discharged from hospitalization.

In the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, 54 patients were examined, of which one was transported to KCUS and one to the General Hospital. At the drive-in point in Vrbanja, 71 PCR tests were performed, while no PCR testing was done at other points.

In total, 202 PCR tests were performed at drive-in points and Covid clinics in the past day. The Covid call center recorded 107 calls, and 50 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in Covid clinics.

Sarajevo Canton today records 249 active cases of COVID-19 infection. Currently, 1,588 people are in self-isolation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 52,464 people have been infected with coronavirus and 50,941 have recovered. According to the data of the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, in the past seven days, the average number of infected is 11, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, is 18.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Olympic Hall “Juan Antonio Samaranch” (Zetra), the immunization of the population will continue according to priorities, including oncology patients according to lists from the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo. Also, revaccination begins tomorrow.

All citizens who have problems registering for the vaccination application should contact the offices of the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton, which will register them in the system and give them a vaccination appointment.

All our fellow citizens are asked to come for vaccination exclusively with an invitation and at the times indicated in the invitation. Those who come without an invitation will not be able to get vaccinated and will be sent back.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and ask them to continue respecting all prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures.
