Sebija's plan: Neurosurgeons "begging" the director to allow them to transfer from the General Hospital to UKCS!?

This morning at the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" in Sarajevo, the still-acting director Sebija Seka Izetbegović convened an emergency meeting of doctors and nurses, the Patria news agency has learned.

The reason was a letter dated yesterday, a "request for consensual transfer from the Public Institution General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš" to the University Clinical Center Sarajevo".

In this letter, which Ms. Izetbegović herself wrote, but presented as if doctors and medical staff were voluntarily transferring to UKCS, and that she had absolutely nothing to do with it, it states:

- We are hereby requesting your approval for a consensual transfer from the Public Institution General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo. The reason for submitting the request is that this institution does not provide adequate conditions for the development of our profession due to a lack of equipment, staff, etc.

Neurosurgery is a tertiary level discipline, and this segment does not exist in the General Hospital (it is not foreseen by the Rulebook on work, internal organization and job systematization, nor did it exist before).

In the General Hospital, doctors are neurologists by vocation. According to new standards and norms, the treatment of neurological diagnoses largely falls under the tertiary level segment, for which we, the undersigned, do not have adequate conditions.

By organizing our specialties in one place, patients will be provided with timely and adequate healthcare, which is our primary goal.

With your consent, we would start working at KCUS on 01/11/2016, the letter addressed to the Cabinet of Director Sebija Izetbegović states.

As some of the doctors told us, transfers to UKCS are already being signed, because otherwise, it is questionable what will happen to them if they do not do what Izetbegović has "warmly" recommended.

As Patria has written several times, Sebija Izetbegović's plan is precisely the merger of the General Hospital and UKCS. With this morning's move, she is already closing down a complete department in the General Hospital, and to do so, the consent of the Government and Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, which are the founders of this public institution, is required.
