Sebastian Kurz: Bosnia and Herzegovina's progress on the path to the European Union depends on itself

The Western Balkans is among the five priorities of Austria during the six-month EU presidency, said Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz for Dnevni avaz.

Kurz also said that Austria advocates for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We clearly stand for the EU perspective for the entire region based on the individual progress of each country.

The Austrian Chancellor emphasized that he supports reform efforts in the areas of rule of law, fight against corruption, and reform of electoral law, which are of particular importance on the path to the European Union.

- Bosnia and Herzegovina must certainly not lose its connection to the other countries in the region - said Kurz, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina must respond to additional questions from the European Commission.

Kurz also said that Austria is ready to support the Western Balkan countries in the fight against illegal migration and smugglers, and that a change in the European migration policy system is needed.
