Sead Milavica: Democratic Front does not support this dismissal of Duška Jurišić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Democratic Front MP in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Sead Milavica commented on the announced dismissal of TVSA director Duška Jurišić, saying that this dismissal is premature, unargued, and that the Democratic Front will not support this initiative.

“It is clear to us that Ms. Jurišić was appointed by the political parties that constituted the previous government in the Canton of Sarajevo, and that there are calls for the Director to be dismissed and for the current majority to appoint another person to this position. But that is not a sufficient reason to dismiss someone with journalistic experience in such a hasty manner.”

“Television Sarajevo needs stability and continuity in its work, and if we are to build a serious cantonal television, decisions must not be made solely on the basis of political loyalty, but also on work, results, and competence,” states Milavica.

Otherwise, in the past two days, Jurišić has received the support of numerous public figures and intellectuals who are calling for her not to be dismissed, as it is evident that the TVSA program has significantly improved since Jurišić took over the leadership of that television. In a public letter signed by numerous journalists, it is stated that “with this potential dismissal, you are leaving citizens without such a cadre and a quality means of information. We ask you, members of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly; the Prime Minister of KS; and the Minister of Justice and Administration of KS, not to accept the proposal to dismiss Duška Jurišić from the position of director of TV Sarajevo. We ask you to save your honor and the honor of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton and not to contribute to the destruction of media owned by citizens,” the letter reads.

The President of SBB, Fahrudin Radončić, also expressed his opposition to Jurišić's dismissal.
