SDP: Government's plan in FBiH to further impoverish pensioners failed

The Social Democratic Party of BiH expresses satisfaction that the proposed Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in FBiH was rejected, as it is a bad law that would turn future pensioners into impoverished pensioners, the SDP announced, reports Patria.  

We, from the SDP, warned from the beginning that the government's plan was to reduce pensions for future pensioners compared to the pensions they would receive under the current law, and Prime Minister Fadil Novalić confirmed this yesterday from the parliamentary podium.

The amendment, which increased the amount of the general point, was actually intended to ensure that future pensions would be at the level of those currently being earned.

We have shown that we know how to increase pensions, twice in three years, and pay them regularly, and we will never support proposals to reduce pensions, which would have happened if the proposed law had been adopted.

We call on the SDA - SBB and HDZ coalition not to rush such an important reform, and to use this situation to reach a law in a democratic procedure that will truly ensure the full stability of the pension fund, as well as dignified pensions for all pensioners, both current and future.

The government's actions so far have only deepened social divisions in society, and the Government now has the opportunity to correct this, at least in the case of pensioners.

There should be no divisions between the government and the opposition in the reform of the pension system, as this Law will apply equally to all people.

It is regrettable that the ruling majority has quarreled over this issue as well. Once again, they have shown that they have no capacity for anything other than continuing the predatory privatization and occupying positions in public companies.

SDA and HDZ should not charge their incompetence to the SDP. The claims of SDA that the SDP is in coalition with HDZ, as well as the simultaneous claims of HDZ that the SDP is in coalition with SDA, are the best proof of the complete confusion of these political parties.

The SDP is in opposition to both SDA and HDZ. We are only in coalition with the people and citizens of this country, whom the government wants to further impoverish, divide, and humiliate with every more serious law.
