SDP: This kind of House of Peoples gives power to HDZ, once they lose their sixth delegate, they are finished

(Patria) - Amidst the talk about electoral law reform and the fact that pro-Bosniak parties have a firm stance that reducing the powers of the Houses of Peoples is a red line, the SDP has once again emphasized that it is precisely this kind of House of Peoples that has enabled the HDZ to condition the appointment of the federal government with changes to the Election Law, and that due to the non-filling of the entity Constitutional Court, for a long time and under the guise of protecting the vital national interest of Croats, they block laws that, according to the SDP's assessment, have nothing to do with vital interests.

"They, in the position of a member of the Presidency, only entertain their own electorate to get votes, and their real power is in the House of Peoples, and when they get the sixth delegate in the House of Peoples Club of the federal parliament, they finish all the work, and they have shown this now," said Irfan Čengić, SDP MP in the FBiH Parliament.

According to the Constitution, at least six delegates from one Club can propose the President or Vice-President of BiH Federation.

Zukan Helez, Vice-President of the SDP and a state MP, guesting on Rezime, emphasized that the SDP will not participate in changes to the Election Law until state institutions are unblocked.

"Without the SDP and the parties gathered around the SDP, the state constitution cannot be amended. We have agreed that we will act together on any intervention in constitutional changes. This national coalition lacks two MPs to amend the Constitution. When the Constitution is changed, then they can make whatever Election Law they want without us. And that is what we are afraid of."

He points out that he does not trust Eichhorst and Palmer.

"Because I received some information a long time ago that Mr. Palmer, in agreement with Dragan Čović, came here to implement what Dragan Čović and the HDZ advocate for, which is very harmful to the state of BiH. That was the story even before the establishment of Mr. Biden's administration."

Helez states that Naša stranka and NiP are going into negotiations, but that they will not achieve anything without an agreement with the SDP.
