SDP Mostar: City authorities plan new blow to citizens' pockets

(Patria) - The new Work Program of the Mostar City Council, adopted under the direction of the ruling SDA-HDZ coalition, is yet another written proof that the citizens of Mostar in 2022 can expect nothing good when it comes to solving local problems that significantly affect all our lives, it was announced from SDP Mostar.

"Instead of concretely solving key problems, it is already evident through the work program that this year we can expect a shameful increase in water prices, as well as garbage collection fees. Along with the absurd introduction of parking fees that are more expensive than in Vienna, this is yet another proof that the Mostar authorities have no intention of addressing communal and infrastructural issues, but only of introducing new 'levies' on citizens based on which they want to improve only the revenue side in order to cover and hide enormous financial losses.

At the same time, there is no intention to identify those responsible and sanction them for years of suspicious spending of money in all spheres of the city administration. So today, a year after the arrival of the 'new-old' authorities in Mostar, there is a lack of money for collectors, and no one has shed light on where and how the money disappeared. The collector is so efficient that all city sewage is discharged into the Neretva below the Aviatic Bridge.

When it comes to water supply, citizens mostly, like those in Blagaj, drink murky city water, and in settlements like Željuša, Prigrađani and Podgorani, there is no drinking water at all. To make the whole thing even more absurd, a year after the return of the HDZ-SDA authorities, the city landfill Uborak is in such a state that the entire city is threatened with a real ecological disaster. All these issues, as well as many others, are not important for the ruling coalition in Mostar. Instead, for them, the most important goal is to increase the prices of water and garbage collection, that is, to once again hit the 'pockets' of citizens as much and as quickly as possible", the statement reads.
