SDP, DF, SBiH, HDZ 1990: We are ready for radical measures to hold elections in Mostar

Representatives of opposition parties SDP BiH, DF, SBiH, HDZ 1990 assessed today that they want elections to be held in Mostar at all costs, Patria reports.

It is unacceptable for elections not to be held in Mostar this year as well, which would mean eight full years without the right to elect local representatives.

The GO SDP Mostar stated that radical measures will be taken in terms of pressure on the international community and relevant political factors in BiH.

A citizens' forum is scheduled to be held at Hotel Ero on August 18, where an attempt will be made to find a common solution, which will then be forwarded to the international community and all relevant political factors in BiH.

The president of KO SDP HNK, Zoran Mikulić, said that the arrogance of the ruling coalition regarding citizens' rights is beyond measure and insults intelligence.

– At the forum, we want to see the mood of the citizens regarding the non-holding of elections in the City and whether the citizens will confront this problem with lethargy, as they have done so far, or whether they will take concrete measures to exercise their basic democratic right – Mikulić emphasized.

He assessed that the opposition has been eliminated from negotiations on holding elections in Mostar in the most undemocratic way. Therefore, he demanded accountability from the ruling structures and called on citizens to punish them in other municipalities in BiH in the upcoming elections, all with the aim of showing citizens' unity and holding the ruling parties accountable for their arrogant behavior.

The president of GO HDZ 1990, Zdravko Ćorić, invited citizens to come to the announced forum and thus say that they deserve to be elected and to elect.

The president of the City Council of Mostar SBiH, Mirsad Kuko, also extended an invitation to citizens, non-governmental organizations, and political entities to come to the forum and contribute to holding elections in the City.

According to him, holding elections is not in the interest of the ruling parties, because they rule without democratic control, i.e., legislative power.

The president of GO DF Mostar, Mahmut Trčalo, agrees with him, also believing that it is obvious that the current situation in the City suits some people, which is why no agreement has been reached on finding a solution for holding elections.

The president of the First Mostar Party, Semir Drljević, whose party was founded two and a half years ago and has never had the opportunity to participate in elections, says that elections in Mostar are necessary and that the international community is also responsible for their non-holding.
