SDP, DF and SBB: We will do everything to hold elections in Mostar

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Representatives of SDP, SBB and DF said during today's meeting in Mostar that elections in Mostar must be held.

They sent an invitation to the US Embassy in BiH, the OSCE Mission and the European Commission to actively engage in the negotiation processes regarding the holding of elections in Mostar.

The last local elections in Mostar were held in 2008. Those in 2012 were skipped, as were the elections in 2016.

Today's meeting in Mostar was organized so that representatives of civic parties could harmonize their positions ahead of a meeting with representatives of SDA and HDZ BiH, which should be held on Monday in Mostar.

"Due to everything, we were forced to unite and, with some minimal principles we agreed upon, jointly approach the negotiations on a solution for the city of Mostar," said the president of the Cantonal Board of SDP HNK, Zoran Mikulić, reminding that the citizens of Mostar have not had the opportunity to go to the polls for ten years, blaming HDZ and SDA for that.

The president of the Mostar board of SBB, Anel Kljako, stated that this party will continue to support the joint initiative in order to reach a solution that is best for all citizens of Mostar.

Mahmut Trčalo, president of DF of the City of Mostar, said that the two ruling parties do not have the exclusive right to discuss the future of Mostar's citizens. He concluded that Mostar must be a unique city and a city with equal opportunities for all its citizens without ethnic and other divisions.
