SDP, DF, and HDZ 1990 demand an urgent session of the Federal Parliament due to the endangered veteran population

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The clubs of SDP BiH, DF, and HDZ 1990 have jointly requested an urgent session of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH to discuss the "state and position of the veteran population," reports Patria agency.

The clubs of these three parties requested an urgent parliamentary session at the initiative of demobilized veterans who have been protesting in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo for nine months, in order to prevent the blockade of border crossings announced for February 28.

"The veteran registry must encompass the complete path for every soldier of ARBiH and HVO - from the moment of mobilization to the final end of the war and demobilization. This list should show the war path of each soldier, such as data on which unit they belonged to, during which period they were a member of the unit, who their commander was, and what duty they performed," the request for an urgent session of the Federal Parliament states. The initiators of this issue believe that such a registry would reveal many dishonorable deeds, fake veterans would be exposed, and it would also reveal who included them in the veteran registries.

"True veterans, of whom there are about 280,000, would thus receive their satisfaction, and later the material compensation that belongs to them and that they have earned," the request for an urgent session states.

The FBiH Government allocates 570 million KM from the annual budget, which amounts to about 2.7 billion KM, for veteran and disability protection. Veterans protesting in front of the Government building believe that the largest part of this money ends up with those who did not fight in the war, while true veterans are on the brink of poverty.
