SDP BiH: Legal and Democratic Decision of the BiH Parliament on Statehood Day and ZAVNOBiH Must Be Respected

The Social Democratic Party of BiH believes that negative reactions from certain parties in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, regarding the adoption of Denis Bećirović's proposal, which definitively recognizes November 25 as the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and establishes the ZAVNOBiH award at the state level, should urgently cease, it was announced, Patria reports.

Certain politicians should, finally, learn that decisions of the highest legislative body of BiH are discussed before the decision-making and voting phase, according to the prescribed procedures of the BiH Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly. The state parliament conducted a vote on ZAVNOBiH, and the result of that vote will remain permanently recorded in BiH's political life. The fact that a few SNSD deputies did not, of their own will, participate in the vote on Bećirović's proposal cannot in any way call into question the result and value of that vote for the continued affirmation of BiH's statehood.

SDP BiH publicly calls on SNSD to stop conducting "political investigations" into the reasons and motives for voting for the values and principles of ZAVNOBiH, but instead to focus on the implementation and affirmation of the decision on the ZAVNOBiH award. Namely, in yesterday's statement, the president of the SNSD Deputy Club in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Staša Košarac, called on the president of SDS, Vukota Govedarica, to request the dismissal of Mladen Bosić from the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly due to this vote.

- The survival of Mladen Bosić in the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament represents a constant danger to Republika Srpska and the interests of the Serbian people - Košarac stated in a statement to Srna.

Explaining this stance, Košarac unfoundedly pointed to the fact that "Bosić, at the last session of the House of Representatives, caused enormous damage to the interests of the RS, because he enabled a second round of voting on Denis Bećirović's initiative, which tasks the Council of Ministers of BiH to prepare and submit to the parliamentary procedure a Draft Law on the ZAVNOBiH award."

SDP BiH believes that the result of the legal and democratic vote at the 39th session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly represents an affirmation of ZAVNOBiH, anti-fascist, and democratic values in the post-Dayton state of BiH. The vote of the elected representatives of the citizens definitively confirmed that there is no doubt that November 25 is the legal Statehood Day of BiH and that in the coming period we should all together thoughtfully affirm this holiday.

One of the ways of affirmation is the establishment of the ZAVNOBiH award at the state level. After such an outcome of the vote, any attempt by SNSD to challenge ZAVNOBiH and the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina through an appeal or other methods represents, to an even greater extent, a mere political absurdity.
