SDP BiH: Glorifying Ustasha leaders is proof we live in an era of resurgent fascism

The Committee for the Affirmation and Protection of the Anti-Fascist Struggle of the Peoples and Nationalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the Social Democratic Party of BiH strongly condemns the recent provocations in the Sarajevo settlement of Dobrinja, which glorify and propagate defeated bearers of the darkest fascist ideology from World War II through pamphlets, reports the Patria agency.

- We remind the citizens of Sarajevo and BiH that the Ustashas, along with the Chetniks and members of the Handschar Division, were on the side of the occupiers Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy during World War II, and that they committed monstrous crimes during that period. Therefore, the glorification of such ideologies is an offensive and, at the same time, a cautionary fact that we live in an era of resurgent fascism.

It started with street and school names, statements about "defeated anti-fascism", all culminating in these shameful pamphlets. What's next, perhaps arrests and persecution of the different and diverse!?

Dear citizens and respected anti-fascists, let us condemn this, as well as all other attempts at rehabilitation and propagation of backward ideas, the greatest enemy of humankind – fascism.

Let us all say clearly and loudly NO to fear, NO to darkness, NO to nationalism, NO to chauvinism, NO to fascism!

Finally, we expect and demand an effective investigation and severe sanctioning of the perpetrators from the competent institutions – it is stated in the SDP BiH press release.
