SDP BiH demands FBiH Parliament bans Marinko Čavara's move into Villa Braun

Under the false pretense of saving budget funds, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has approved 100,000 KM from the budget reserve for Marinko Čavara, the President of the FBiH, for the renovation and equipping of Villa Braun, the SDP announced.

We remind you that the Patria agency published an article about Čavara's blackmail of the FBiH Government to move into Villa Braun, without the FBiH Vice Presidents, and today the SDP reacted.

- This representative facility in the strict center of Sarajevo, according to President Čavara's idea, should soon become the headquarters of his office, as well as the office of the Vice President of the FBiH. In this way, President Čavara has once again shown all his arrogance and attitude towards the citizens of FBiH, who are nothing more than an ATM for Čavara from which he will withdraw money for the additional renovation of the villa where he intends to preside during his term.

We remind you that Čavara's predecessor, Živko Budimir, had similar ambitions to house himself and his entourage in this luxurious villa, but the then Government led by the SDP did not allow it - the SDP states.

They point out that if Čavara realizes his idea, the office of the President of FBiH will become the first state institution in the entire BiH to be hidden from citizens by high walls and other security obstacles.

- By doing so, Čavara and the current authorities will very clearly show how they perceive their current positions as feudal rulers. This is probably an example of the practice that Čavara's party leader Dragan Čović had in mind when he recently said that it is very easy to manage the citizens of FBiH.

The Social Democratic Party of BiH will demand that the FBiH Parliament, which elected President Čavara, state its position on his intention to locate the president's office in Villa Braun at the first upcoming session. We expect that there will be enough awareness in the FBiH Parliament not to allow any FBiH institution to be located behind high walls, because we firmly believe that this would send a very ugly message to the citizens of FBiH about the attitude of the highest officials towards those who elected them. There are many bigger and more serious problems in the Federation of BiH that the FBiH Government should be dealing with, instead of fulfilling the childish wishes of any politician to live in a villa, surrounded by exotic plants and animals - the statement added.
