SDP BiH to make decision on negotiations tomorrow: We do not want to be accomplices to secessionist projects

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The announcement by the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina about potentially freezing participation in further negotiations has sparked public interest and numerous media inquiries. Therefore, we are taking this opportunity to inform the public that a decision on future participation, or non-participation, in negotiations on the reform of the BiH Constitution and Election Law will be made at tomorrow's session of the Presidency, according to SDP BiH.

"The announcement of such a step is motivated by the fact that the state is facing continuous unconstitutional and anti-Dayton actions by the majority in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska, which undermine the sovereignty and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Continuing to participate in negotiations would, for us in SDP BiH, represent complicity in creating a semblance of normalcy for the current situation.

We believe that the Election Law is an extremely important political issue, but that protecting the constitutional and legal order is a priority at this moment. We do not want to pressure other political actors with our decisions, but SDP does not want to be an accomplice in buying time for secessionist projects, to which some of the domestic public, as well as the international community, (un)consciously turn a blind eye, through its future participation in negotiations under these circumstances.

Such a decision by SDP BiH would be withdrawn after the causes and consequences of unconstitutional actions are rectified, and institutions begin to function normally. Of course, until then, we would participate in discussions on rectifying the blockade of state institutions, the functioning of judicial bodies on the aforementioned issue, and the sanctioning of those responsible for the current situation," states SDP.
