SDP BiH: SDA seeks political refuge with loyal allies from HDZ

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The current political situation was discussed at today's session of the SDP BiH Presidency, with a special emphasis on the announced meetings between SDA and HDZ regarding amendments to the Election Law of BiH.

The SDP BiH Presidency believes that the practice of SDA and HDZ meetings is merely a continuation of the gross violation of the institute of parliamentary democracy and respect for BiH institutions, which the leaders of these parties apparently like to violate. 

As SDA has been losing on several political fronts lately, the worst of which is bringing citizens into direct mortal danger with the slow pace of vaccine procurement, they have decided to seek refuge with their loyal allies from HDZ, from whom the SDA leader is seeking political salvation by claiming that Bosniaks and Croats are "one people", and are distracting the public with talk about amendments to the Election Law.

The Election Law is the lifeblood of any state, as it regulates the method and participation in power. Therefore, SDP's stance is exclusive and states that negotiations on such sensitive topics can only be conducted in parliaments and with broad consensus from the public, other parties, and the NGO sector. 

The session also discussed the initiative of SDP Presidency member and Mayor of Tuzla, Jasmin Imamović, on the rationalization of the Federation of BiH. It was stated that the initiative has so far met with a positive response from the public and some federal parties, and its promotion will continue. 

Presidency members were also informed about a meeting discussing the formation of a third, civic, bloc in the BiH entity of RS. It was emphasized that a second meeting with parties on this topic will be held soon, where joint conclusions will be adopted in order to start their implementation as soon as possible. 

SDP BiH supports the freedom of journalists in their work and wants to clearly state that SDA's activities have long represented a call for the lynching of undesirable journalists, which is indeed happening in practice. Recent events unequivocally indicate that we have moved from a society of silent coercion to a society of open calls for violence. 

Members of the BiH Presidency paid tribute to the victims in Prijedor by symbolically wearing white armbands during the session.
