SDP BiH presented public policy "Work experience for everyone"

At the premises of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, a press conference was held regarding the presentation of the public policy titled "Work experience for everyone". Irfan Čengić, Secretary General of SDP BiH, Lana Prlić, Vice President of SDP BiH, and Damir Filipović, President of the Youth Forum of SDP BiH, addressed the attendees, presenting the efforts of SDP BiH and the Youth Forum to improve the acquisition of first work experience for young people in our country through this public policy, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- We want to enable work experience for all young people, as it is a prerequisite for obtaining employment in the private and public sectors. Unfortunately, today only the privileged have the right to gain work experience through volunteering. By amending the Law on Volunteering in both entities, we want to enable all young people to have the opportunity to volunteer in their local communities within six months. This will make it easier for young people to gain work experience, local communities will receive young and educated staff, and citizens will get more efficient local self-government - Čengić stated.

The goal of this public policy is to enable young people to more easily gain work experience, and thus more easily pass professional exams, then to create a more transparent way of selecting volunteers, and in this way, to achieve more efficient local self-government.

- As a young person, I fully understand the problems of young people, and finding a job is the biggest problem for young people in BiH. A large number of young people, after completing their education, cannot find employment because they lack work experience and have not had the opportunity to take professional exams. With this public policy, we are trying to change that, and SDP will try to provide all young people across BiH with a chance to more easily get their first work experience - Prlić added.

This public policy has assessed the current situation regarding volunteering in our country, which is very unfavorable for young people throughout BiH. Therefore, SDP BiH will submit amendments to the Law on Volunteering to the parliaments of both entities, through which they will try to eliminate the shortcomings of the current Law.

- I want to emphasize that the Youth Forum of SDP BiH wants to ensure equal rights for all young people in BiH, which is one of the foundations of social democracy. Therefore, from December 3rd to 5th, in 40 cities across BiH, at 120 info desks, we will promote this public policy, and young people will be able to easily get information about our initiative - Filipović concluded.
