SDP BiH proposes law to suspend payment of separation allowances in FBiH

Elvir Karajbić, head of the Social Democratic Party BiH caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, together with Aner Žuljević, SDP BiH delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, submitted to the parliamentary procedure a proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Bodies of Authority of the Federation of BiH.

The essence of the proposed amendments to the Law is to enable the immediate suspension of payments of allowances for separate living and accommodation at the place of work for all ministers, representatives, delegates, the President and Vice-Presidents of FBiH, as well as advisors appointed to these institutions.

The suspension of these allowances would last until the average salary in FBiH reaches the amount of 1,200 KM. Also, the amendments to the Law provide for linking the amount of these allowances to the base amount for salary calculation in accordance with this Law, which currently amounts to 315 KM, in such a way that these allowances cannot exceed this amount, when and if they are paid again.

The Social Democratic Party BiH calls on all representatives in the Parliament of FBiH to support these legal amendments, because it is high time to stop the years-long practice of constantly increasing the amount of these allowances by SDA and HDZ.

Adopting the proposed amendments to the Law on Salaries in the Bodies of Authority of FBiH would result in savings of at least one million KM on an annual basis.
