SDP BiH: We call on Nedžad Ajnadžić to remove the stones with stolen quotes

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Regarding the pre-election activities of SDA structures in Sarajevo, SDP BiH calls on SDA to investigate the origin of the quotes before immortalizing them carved in stone and planted around Sarajevo. We in SDP are not bothered by the ignorance or illiteracy of SDA cadres. We are already accustomed to them misusing public funds for their election campaign. However, with this latest act, they are bringing great shame to the entire city, which will again become a subject of ridicule in the region and beyond. This time, it won't be the "pearls" of Abdulah Skaka who are to blame, but the "pearls of wisdom" attributed to Alija Izetbegović, according to SDP BiH.

"After stealing the mayoral position in 2016, SDA has now started stealing quotes. When Nedžad Ajnadžić decided to usurp public space with Alija Izetbegović's "quotes," he was not even aware of the embarrassment he had prepared for himself, nor that with this move he had permanently shamed the founder of SDA, Alija Izetbegović, because he presented quotes that do not belong to him as his own in the eyes of the public. Namely, the quote 'Science discovers, art creates' belongs to the 18th-century British painter John Opie, which Alija Izetbegović quoted in his writings. Also, we will not delve into the analysis of some other carved quotes about wisdom, knowledge, and ignorance, which can be seen as approximate paraphrases of certain more or less known sayings. We will leave that to the expert community.

In SDA, they clearly don't know the difference between a creation and a forgery anyway. Since they have already caused this first-class embarrassment to the citizens at their expense, we call on SDA to remove their pre-election stones from the streets so that people can pass unhindered, without stumbling over monuments to forged quotes. Otherwise, they can at least re-engrave the author's name and sign the quote with the real author's name. We are sure that the late John Opie could never have dreamed that his quote would be immortalized in Sarajevo. It would be good if SDA also invited the British Ambassador to the 're-opening,' given that the quote pays tribute to an artist from that country.

Considering that we recently witnessed how even young hopes, following SDA's practice from its early days, copy pre-election statements from SDP, it is clear that SDA has opened the season of cheat sheets and plagiarism. It is difficult to conclude whether SDA's attempt to promote itself with public money through Alija Izetbegović is more pathetic, or the fact that out of so many quotes, they chose a plagiarism. It is certain that even Alija Izetbegović did not deserve such successors. Instead of monuments to the founder of SDA, we got new monuments to the stupidity, ignorance, and illiteracy of SDA. In any case, by carving this embarrassment in stone, it can be said that SDA has indeed refuted the thought that 'a stupid person is dead even when alive.'"
