SDP BiH continues the fight for Jablanica's Granit

The latest developments in the Jablanica company "Granit d.d. in bankruptcy", caused by the verdicts of the Municipal and Cantonal Courts in Sarajevo, which are bringing this company to the brink of liquidation, represent the final act, whose epilogue will be the disappearance of a former giant and the driver of economic development of the municipality of Jablanica, it was announced from SDP BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- For years, we in the Social Democratic Party have pointed to the obvious collusion between the authorities and crime and tried to find solutions that would bring the most important thing to the workers of "Granit" - a secure job and justice. We strived to save "Granit" from politicization and liquidation, and to protect the workers from some new criminal privatization. We have shown countless times that our intentions were honorable and sincere, from the moment this company started on the highway to hell, until today. Plundering privatization, non-transparent operations, and artificial debts are just a well-established way of destroying our economy.

Without delving into the merits of the verdict that has brought "Granit" into a hopeless situation, we cannot help but wonder if the judiciary is also involved in all the aforementioned actions? Because how else can we interpret the fact that even after several years, the "Granit" case is still gathering dust in the drawers of the Court of BiH, while at the same time, cases against those suspected of multi-million dollar crime are being resolved expressively and multi-million dollar amounts are awarded, while, for reminder, Granit workers live on the edge of hunger?

We wonder if the Municipal Court in Sarajevo is aware that by issuing the controversial verdict, they may have signed a death sentence for this company, leaving the workers without basic means of subsistence? Such actions by judicial bodies make us doubt the impartiality and independence of the judiciary.

SDP BiH has done everything so far for Granit to survive. As part of the government in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, we have done everything in our power for Granit to continue its operations, for the privatization contracts to be terminated and the company to be returned to state, i.e., cantonal management. Although we provided full support to the workers of Granit to obtain significant financial resources from the Development Bank of FBiH, our political opponents, for reasons known only to them, were against this arrangement.

We call on all levels of government, the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the Federation, and the BiH authorities, to help "Granit" so that, in the interest of the 210 employed workers, it can overcome this, perhaps the greatest challenge to date, because there are no more excuses. We appeal to the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH to take all necessary legal actions within their jurisdictions to immediately and without delay resolve the criminal proceedings against the former management of "Granit", and to take all necessary legal actions to ensure the unimpeded operation of "Granit d.d. in bankruptcy" until the Court of BiH's decision in the criminal case against the former management of the company, which is being conducted in this court.

The Municipal Organization of SDP BiH Jablanica reminds the public that it will use all its available resources and capacities to protect the workers and the company from criminal activities of which they have been a target for many years.
