SDP BiH: Lower pensions for 90 percent of workers in FBiH

The SDA SBB HDZ coalition has today reduced pensions for all future pensioners in FBiH, while leaving existing pensioners to anxiously await the Constitutional Court's rulings which would also reduce their pensions, SDP BiH announced, reports Patria.

All of this is enabled by the adopted Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in FBiH, which is yet another in a series of false reforms implemented by this government. The new pension calculation point system is contaminated by the decision to equate the value of the basic point used to calculate the pension amount with the average salary. In practice, this means that all workers who currently have a salary below 800 KM cannot have a pension higher than 380 KM, and this applies to ninety percent of employees in FBiH.

The remaining 10 percent of privileged individuals with salaries higher than 800 KM will have significantly higher pensions.

This will, in the long run, punish workers from the so-called real sector, and reward primarily those who currently work in administration.

This model is unconstitutional, and it is only a matter of time before it is overturned by the Constitutional Court, which will also endanger current pensioners.

SDP calls on the delegates of the House of Peoples not to accept this law, which will lead to new social stratification in society.
