SDP BiH HNK Demands Urgent Assembly Session on Security Situation in the Canton

The Presidency of SDP BiH HNK, at its session held on October 19, 2015, discussed the current situation in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and tasked the SDP BiH Caucus in the HNK Assembly to request an urgent Assembly session on the security situation in the Canton, reports the news agency.

The beating of trade unionists, university professors, the burning of journalists' cars, and numerous other incidents culminated in yesterday's murder in Mostar on the street in broad daylight. We demand urgent and energetic measures by the competent authorities to shed light on these cases and bring the perpetrators to justice. By failing to solve serious robberies, crime and violence gain wings, putting citizens in a situation of general insecurity and fear.

We ask ourselves what is the point of security structures if they are unable to ensure the safety of citizens and their property and bring the perpetrators of serious crimes to justice? Is it possible that someone is protecting these perpetrators, or is the huge amount of money that taxpayers allocate for the work of security structures being wasted irretrievably? Gentlemen, the sole purpose and scope of the Ministry of Interior is not traffic regulation and maintaining road safety. There are numerous other competencies that the Ministry of Interior is obliged to respect, and one of them is the general safety of citizens and cooperation with the prosecutor's office in investigative actions. For this reason, we hope that there will be a quick resolution of the listed cases, as well as numerous other cases of robbery and crime, so that the cities in HNK become safe places for people's lives and property.

The Presidency of SDP BiH HNK, among other things, confirmed the decision that the Conference of the Youth Forum of SDP BiH HNK will be held on October 25, 2015, in Stolac, where a new leadership of the Youth Forum of SDP BiH HNK will be elected. On that occasion, the SDP and the Youth Forum of SDP BiH HNK, together with the citizens of Stolac, veterans, and anti-fascists from all over BiH, will also mark the Day of Liberation of Stolac from fascism.
