SDP BiH: Urgently suspend classes in primary and secondary schools across the Federation of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina appeals to the Federal Ministry of Education to urgently suspend classes in primary and secondary schools across the Federation of BiH.

"It is evident that many countries in the region, including the smaller BiH entity, have already suspended classes in schools, while some countries have even suspended classes at universities. It is high time this preventive measure is introduced in the Federation of BiH as well, especially since in some cantons a ban on gatherings of up to 250 people has already been introduced, while in schools the average is around 500 students. Therefore, there is no logical explanation why a ban on classes should not be introduced. According to information from the field, some schools have already initiated the suspension of the teaching process on their own, which is an additional reason for suspension across all federal cantons. Also, if necessary, classes should be suspended at universities as well.

If the federal ministries of education and health ignore the growing number of appeals from parents for the suspension of classes, they will be directly responsible for the health of our children and the faster spread of the coronavirus," said SDP BiH.
