SDP BiH: European Commission must comment on agreement with Dodik

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina demands an urgent clarification from the European Commission in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding documents that recently leaked to the media, in which European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi allegedly agreed with Milorad Dodik to hold a special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

"If this proves to be true, this move could represent a dangerous precedent in the European Commission's participation in the ongoing negotiations on amendments to the Election Law and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is incomprehensible that such things are done by those who, at least declaratively, support the integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Is part of the international community giving covert support to the secessionist intentions of Milorad Dodik and the leadership of Republika Srpska with this document?

The European Commission must provide an explanation as soon as possible about what is really going on, and if the documents are true, even in the form of a report, why was the public of Bosnia and Herzegovina not informed about this earlier? Any intention by international envoys to make certain concessions to Milorad Dodik in this case implies endangering the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a sovereign and internationally recognized state, and this is the basis from which all actors, international or domestic, must start. Therefore, the recent decision of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina to withdraw from the negotiations gains significance and is once again shown to be entirely correct. It is evident that time was to be bought for Milorad Dodik and the realization of his secessionist aspirations through empty meetings without concrete solutions," the SDP announced.
