SDP BiH: Drvar has always been a Bosnian-Herzegovinian, sometimes Tito's, but never just a Serbian city

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of BiH most sharply condemns the statement by the Serbian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Đorđević, during the opening of the consular representation of Serbia in Drvar, in which he stated that Drvar has always been a Serbian city.

"Besides such claims being unacceptable from a diplomatic representative of a neighboring country, as it is direct interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state, such statements do not contribute to good neighborly relations. Unfortunately, we have long been accustomed to such and similar statements from Serbian officials, so they represent nothing new. It is obvious that the representatives of the current government in Serbia, while talking about respecting the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have not yet abandoned the ideas of territorial pretensions and the unification of parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Serbia," the SDP stated in a press release.

They add that "instead of helping Serb returnees in Drvar to finally become a constituent and equal people in this canton, it is obvious that some Serbian officials consider it more important to sell fairy tales about the formation of Greater Serbia."

"Finally, we would remind Ambassador Đorđević of the history of Drvar, in which this city has always been Bosnian-Herzegovinian, and sometimes Tito's, but never just Serbian. The SDP BiH demands an immediate apology from Ambassador Đorđević, and if he does not do so, we call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to send a protest note to Serbia, demanding an explanation for such and similar statements by Serbian diplomats," the statement said.
