SDA: Entity holidays must have the consent of all constituent peoples

SDA welcomes the Decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH which, at the request of the BiH Presidency member Bakir Izetbegović, declared the Law on Holidays of the RS entity unconstitutional, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The RS entity, as part of the integral state of BiH, is a Dayton and constitutional category defined as a community of equal peoples and citizens - Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats, and others, and it is absolutely unacceptable for January 9th to be celebrated as the day of the RS.

On January 9th, 1992, the political project of ethnically pure territories officially began, along with the suffering of the civilian population and mass crimes. Furthermore, the religious holiday of only one (Serb) people and its celebration as an entity day represents discrimination against other peoples and citizens.

The RS entity has the right to a holiday, but that date must be acceptable to all peoples and citizens in this entity.

We call on the RS authorities to respect the expected decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, as its implementation will protect the interests of this entity and make this entity acceptable to all its inhabitants.
