SDA: Instead of lobbying for domestic carriers in Brussels, the government pretends not to see the protests

(Patria) - Difficulties with the stay of drivers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Schengen area, as well as the new EU entry system, have caused enormous problems that will have severe consequences for the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the SDA stated in a press release.

"Although the problems have been ongoing for months, although drivers from our country are being detained in EU countries and deported, although there will be difficulties in supplying the domestic market and exporting goods from our country, the current state authorities are doing almost nothing. Today, when new protests by carriers and border blockades for freight traffic have begun, the authorities are once again silent, as if this problem does not concern them. They have left the fight with the European Commission's rules to the carriers," the SDA added.

They added: "Previously, the problem was ineptly handled by the Minister of Transport and Communications Edin Forto, whose interest in this topic ended with a video from a truck cabin for social networks, while we know nothing about communication with the European Commissioner for Transport. Now, both he and the entire Council of Ministers are pretending not to see the blockades".

"Instead of being in Brussels and trying to solve this problem at all important addresses in the European Commission, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Konaković is busy writing posts on social networks and disciplining the media. He does not want to receive the carriers even for a meeting. Due to all of the above, it is clear that the carriers' protests are justified, but they should primarily be organized in front of the institutions where the representatives of the government paid to solve their problems sit, and not ignore them," the SDA statement said.
