SDA Stolac: Mayor Bošković Denies Transport Rights Only to Bosniak Students

(Patria) - The Municipal Board of SDA strongly condemns the latest and so far most brutal examples of discriminatory policy that Stjepan Bošković is carrying out against Bosniaks in Stolac.

This time his policy is breaking over the backs of children, because he refuses to allocate funds for their transport.

"Namely, the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton transferred funds for student transport to the City of Stolac on time and without any reductions, compared to previous years even with a slight increase. What is particularly concerning is the fact that the suspension of transport applies exclusively to students of Bosniak nationality.

We ask the most unjust mayor in Bosnia and Herzegovina: how did he assess that funds are lacking precisely for the school attended by Bosniaks, when the funds from the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton were paid for student transport in general? Such an act is not only discrimination but also a gross violation of basic human rights, because it is the obligation of every authority to ensure that every child, regardless of national or any other affiliation, has the right to education in safe and dignified conditions. In this regard, we demand that the mayor pay the funds for student transport as early as today.

We also emphasize that the prices of student tickets for children coming from surrounding villages to Stolac, where the longest distance is 15 km, are more expensive than the price of a student ticket on the route Stolac–Mostar (36 km)", it was stated by SDA Stolac.
