SDA, SBiH and DF reach agreement: One candidate for mayor in KS and separate lists for councils

(Patria) - Negotiations between the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), the Party for BiH (SBiH) and the Democratic Front (DF) on a potential joint appearance in the upcoming Local elections in the Sarajevo Canton (KS) continued today in Sarajevo.

Representatives of the three parties reached a certain degree of agreement today, in such a way that in the municipality where one of these parties has its candidate, the other two will not have their own, while each party will have its own lists for the municipal councils.

Although some media outlets reported that a joint appearance of SDA, SBiH and DF was actually agreed upon today - calling it Trojka 2, the president of the Party for BiH, Semir Efendić, clarified on social networks that there is no Trojka 2.

He emphasized that the Party for BiH, SDA and DF are not running in the elections together, but that each of them is running independently.

"Each party is running independently in the elections, but not all parties have candidates for mayor in all municipalities, as this would only help the joint candidates of Trojka by scattering votes among a larger number of candidates," Efendić added.

Almir Bečarević, president of the Cantonal Board of SBiH Sarajevo Canton, confirmed to Patria that this agreement has been the same from the very beginning.

- One candidate for mayor, supported by all three parties. Everyone will have their own list. Stari Grad is outside this agreement. So, it is neither Trojka 2, nor a coalition, nor joint candidates, but an agreement to retire Trojka - Bečarević told us.

The City Council and the position of the Mayor of Sarajevo were not discussed at today's meeting.

A session of the Cantonal Organization (KO) of SDA Sarajevo is announced for Friday, where today's preliminary agreement should be confirmed, and a joint press conference of SDA, SBiH and DF is also announced for the same day, where the nature of the inter-party agreement will be officially announced.
