SDA, SBB and DF Closest to Coalition After Elections, Cerić Can Win!

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has reduced its coalition potential, and therefore I believe that the closest to a coalition after the elections are the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) and the Democratic Front, said Adis Arapović, project manager of the Center for Civic Initiatives (CCI), for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

- These three parties, SDA, SBB and DF, depending on the results, are closest to a coalition. The number of votes will only determine whether there will be three or two political parties in it. The SDP, by acting through the government, has somewhat lost its compass and reduced its own potential for forming an alliance. For them, we know who they will not work with, and those are DF and SBB – adds Arapović for NAP.

However, he warns that there will be no changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina if there is not a higher voter turnout in the elections. According to his estimates, if elections were held now, less than half of the voters would vote.

This is also contributed to by constant, often staged political conflicts, such as the recent conflict between Bakir Izetbegović and Zlatko Lagumdžija, regarding the dismissal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Behind us is a period of high political tensions and few results. People are disappointed in politics, parties and politicians. They think that almost everyone is the same, that there are no good and bad politicians. And that is very bad, because not all politicians are the same, nor are all parties and individuals bad. Someone deliberately creates that illusion of "sameness" to maintain the status quo, fuels that apathy, ensures lower voter turnout at elections, which guarantees that this situation remains – believes Arapović.

Parties and politicians who want change, according to him, must work on encouraging people to go to the polls. In the previous general elections in 2010 and four years earlier, turnout was around 53 percent.

For a change in the balance of power on the political scene to occur, that percentage needs to be increased. In his opinion, the candidacy of Mustafa Cerić for the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has great potential and a chance to change the political scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- There is exceptional political potential here. Cerić is a completely new face in politics and does not come from under the skirts of parties. There is charisma, experience and capacity, and all the challenges to that candidacy that we have heard are undemocratic. There are no obstacles for him to run, in any way. In the current political relations among Bosniaks, especially if Radončić does not run, Cerić has objective chances to win, and at the very least, he has equal chances as other candidates - emphasized Arapović, reports Patria.
