SDA against reducing miners' salaries, SNSD and HDZ hindering better life in BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Presidency of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) met today in Sarajevo. The current political situation in the country was discussed, and the party leader Bakir Izetbegović addressed journalists after the session and spoke about the adopted conclusions.

In accordance with the conclusion on mines, the SDA, as Izetbegović stated, has taken the position that miners' salaries must not be reduced or their stability jeopardized in any way.

"At the same time, the stability of the energy sector must be ensured. Therefore, we have invited representatives of Elektroprivreda, the FBiH Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, and the miners' union to reach a solution through dialogue that will improve the labor-legal status and guarantee stable salaries for miners. SDA cadres in the government structure will be specifically responsible for this issue," he stated.

He emphasized that the crisis caused by SNSD was also discussed.

"We called on SNSD to stop the blockades that are dramatically worsening the situation and relations in the country. This crisis has been ongoing for 15 years, precisely since the fall of the April package. It is intensifying and heading towards its culmination. I think the damage caused by SNSD's policy to the citizens of BiH is immeasurable in both entities, and that tens of thousands of people and families would have stayed in this country and not left if things had been different. The original Dayton, which Milorad Dodik refers to, does not exist. Therefore, Article 3 of Annex 4 of Dayton clearly states that within six months, additional amendments and changes to Dayton will be made, which will mean strengthening BiH, its institutions, etc. This has been done, and SNSD, its president, participated in it," said Izetbegović.

He welcomed the engagement of representatives from the USA and the EU in finding solutions for constitutional reform.

"The announcements by certain officials at this moment are solely focused on resolving the election of the BiH Presidency members, i.e., the request of HDZ. We note that HDZ cadres have blocked the election of the new FBiH Government, i.e., the implementation of election results since 2018, and the blockade of filling the Constitutional Court for the last two years. At the same time, the Croat caucus in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, whose majority consists of HDZ cadres, either rejects laws or simply does not want to consider them. The issue of the functioning of the House of Peoples will have to be resolved in parallel with what HDZ is requesting," Izetbegović stated.
