(Patria) - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) welcomes the decision of the UN General Assembly to adopt the Resolution declaring July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica.
"The UN General Assembly Resolution is a seal on the truth established by the judgments of the International Court of Justice and numerous judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
It is particularly significant that the Resolution unequivocally condemns any denial of the genocide in Srebrenica as a historical event and calls on member states to preserve the established facts through their educational systems and by developing appropriate programs.
The UN General Assembly also condemned the glorification of convicted perpetrators of genocide and other war crimes, which is a clear message to the current regime in Serbia and the Republika Srpska entity, which continuously and systematically engage in such acts.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the adoption of the Resolution, from the initial text drafted during the mandate of Minister Bisera Turković and Presidency member Šefik Džaferović in cooperation with victims' associations, through the valuable work of Ambassadors Sven Alkalaj and Zlatko Lagumdžija, to the final lobbying efforts by other BiH officials.
We thank all United Nations member states that stood on the side of truth and supported the adoption of the Resolution, especially the co-sponsoring countries," the SDA announced.
