SDA: Suspension of gas supply to Sarajevo is a consequence of Trojka heeding the wishes of HDZ and SNSD

(Patria) - The SDA Club in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a statement regarding the suspension of natural gas supply to users in Sarajevo Canton by Sarajevo-gas Istočno Sarajevo,

"This is yet another confirmation that the Trojka subordinates the interests of citizens to the interests and wishes of HDZ BiH, as well as to those of Milorad Dodik and the authorities of the RS entity. By persistently refusing to include the Proposal for the Law on the Gas Pipeline 'Southern Interconnection Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia' on the agenda of the sessions of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by adopting that legal solution, the Trojka follows the policy of HDZ BiH, while simultaneously enabling Dodik to use the supply of gas and control over the price of this energy source as a lever of blackmail for achieving political and financial goals," they stated.

The construction and commissioning of the Southern Interconnection would enable the diversification of gas supply sources and reduce the dependence of the Federation of BiH on Russian gas distributed through Sarajevo-gas Istočno Sarajevo.

"By preventing the adoption of the Law on the Southern Interconnection, the Trojka directly obstructs the realization of this strategic energy project and puts the citizens of Sarajevo Canton in a situation where they are left without natural gas supply or have to pay an excessively high price for its distribution.

The SDA Club has on several occasions proposed including the Proposal for the Law on the Southern Interconnection on the agenda and has warned of the consequences of the decision by the Trojka and its partners to reject those proposals.

We once again call on the deputies of the ruling coalition to urgently adopt the Proposal for the Law on the Southern Interconnection, which was submitted to the procedure by the SDA Club and which, in its proposed content, was adopted in the House of Representatives during the previous term," the statement said.
