SDA: Nikšić's request to POSKOK is a shameful attempt to cover up the 'Spengavanje' affair, but it did not bear fruit

(Patria) - Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić's intention to prevent the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament on the 'Spengavanje' affair through POSKOK is a shameful attempt to silence representatives and the public, which did not bear fruit, according to SDA's reaction after the Federal Prosecutor's Office's response to Nikšić today, stating they do not wish to interfere with Parliament's right to hold a session and debate.

"The request from the FBiH Government, signed by Nikšić, asking POSKOK for an interpretation that the session would jeopardize the investigation, is nothing more than a transparent attempt to stop the debate on an affair that has deeply compromised the FBiH Government, the Federal Police Administration, and other institutions and their officials who are actors in this affair and who would prefer silence on the matter.

The claim that a debate on this case, based on the content of messages already published in the public and available to investigative bodies for months, could jeopardize the investigation is a transparent excuse whose sole purpose is to cover up the affair and avoid political responsibility.

The Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina not only has the full right, but also the constitutional obligation, to address a case that has shaken citizens' trust in institutions and pointed to political control over police and judicial bodies, illegalities in the appointment and employment process, and attempts to obstruct investigations against members of the ruling coalition.

No attempt at pressure, misdirection, or abuse of institutions should prevent a public confrontation with the truth in this matter. That is the only guarantee that these abuses will result in thorough and non-selective prosecution of those responsible for abuses and illegalities, regardless of their positions or party affiliation," the SDA announced.
