SDA: Public media services must serve citizens, not the Troika as Konaković wants

(Patria) - The blackmail by the NIP president that the financing problems of public media services, FTV and BHRT, will be resolved when personnel are installed "who work as the policies of the Troika demand from them" is a scandalous assault on media freedom, states the announcement from the Party of Democratic Action.

"Public media services must serve citizens, who finance them, and not the authorities, as Konaković and the Troika would want in an incredibly autocratic manner," they add from SDA.

As they say, public interest, editorial independence, and respect for journalistic standards must be the principles of operation of public media services, not the desires of individual politicians to implement and justify their failed policies.

"This is not the first time that the Troika, and especially Konaković, have pressured the media, as well as directly journalists who criticize their work. The Troika, just as it came to power - by suspending the Constitution, apparently wants to rule - by suspending media freedom," SDA believes.

They conclude: "It is becoming increasingly clear that the latest crisis with the collection of the RTV fee was artificially caused precisely so that the Troika, following the 'Konaković model,' could take over public services."

Let us recall, the head of Bosnian diplomacy Elmedin Konaković, who is also the president of the People and Justice party, stated: “We expect a long-term solution when people sit in the managements of both public broadcasters, FTV and BHRT, who work as the policies of the Troika demand from them.”
