SDA and HDZ on the distribution of positions within the MUP of HNK

MOSTAR, (Patria) – SDA and HDZ are expected to hold a meeting where the issue of the commissioner of the MUP of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, as well as the head of the Mostar Police Station, should be "resolved", the Patria agency has learned.

An official confirmation of this information is still pending. The Cantonal Organization of SDA in Mostar could neither confirm nor deny this information.

Sources who spoke to the Patria agency on condition of anonymity believe that SDA is prepared to confirm the existing situation in the MUP at this meeting, in the sense that HDZ chooses the commissioner of the MUP of HNK, while SDA would choose the head of the Mostar Police Administration, which is a far weaker position compared to the position of commissioner. 

The media have previously written about illegal activities in the MUP of HNK. The current MUP commissioner, Ilija Lasić, remained in that position even after the Constitutional Court's ruling, which assessed that his appointment to that position in 2014 was done outside the Constitution.
Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, accused Commissioner Lasić of a coup d'état after Lasić stopped a convoy of migrants in Konjic, which the state Office for Foreigners was transporting from Sarajevo to the Salakovac refugee center near Mostar.

The portal tačno.net published documents from the MUP of HNK at the end of May, which were submitted to the BiH Prosecutor's Office in 2015, as well as official notes from the BiH Border Police regarding the alleged criminal activities of MUP of HNK inspector Edis Mušić. He is suspected of providing services for the safer transport of illegal goods and substances for years and, given his position, preventing controls for his own material benefit.
 
"Neither SDA nor HDZ show a willingness to decriminalize the MUP of HNK. On the contrary, they show that they want to strengthen the existing situation," says this source, who holds a high rank in the MUP of HNK.
