SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The announcement by SNSD leader Milorad Dodik that he will set up checkpoints of the RS MUP on the state border and the inter-entity boundary line represents an open attack on Dayton and the constitutional order, say SDA.
"According to the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entity police cannot set up any checkpoints on the state border or on the entity line. The right to protect and control the state border belongs exclusively to state institutions – the Border Police under the Law on Border Control, and the Armed Forces of BiH by decision of the BiH Presidency. Moreover, the law prohibits entity police from entering the border zone, and the BiH Constitution explicitly prohibits entities from in any way restricting movement on the inter-entity boundary line.
Dodik's threat to set up entity police checkpoints represents an open attack on the constitutional order and a new threat to peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The fact that at a time of the most severe social crisis since the war, when all responsible people are fighting to protect the health of citizens and save the economy from collapse, Dodik threatens and undermines the Constitution and peace, shows what kind of political figure we are dealing with. Instead of helping people in a difficult situation, he creates additional danger and problems.
If Dodik thinks that, at a time when everyone in BiH and the world is preoccupied with the virus, he will achieve part of his separatist plans, he is greatly mistaken, because patriotic forces will not watch this with folded arms. With such moves, Dodik can only jeopardize the Dayton peace. Therefore, we call on the institutions responsible for implementing the Peace Agreement to react before it is too late," SDA stated.
