SDA: Dragan Čović has a constitutional obligation to represent the interests of BiH, not those of another state

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) has rejected the statements of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Čović, regarding the official position of BiH on the construction of the Pelješac Bridge.

From the SDA, they stated that it is an absolute untruth that BiH officially does not contest the construction of the Pelješac Bridge.

- The real truth, which Čović himself knows, is that the Presidency of BiH unanimously adopted a position in 2007 which reads: „Bosnia and Herzegovina is against the construction of the bridge until the resolution of open issues related to the identification of the maritime border line between the two states.“

The highest officials of the Republic of Croatia were also informed of this position at the time.

Dragan Čović, as the current Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, has a constitutional obligation to represent the official positions and interests of BiH. Any different conduct constitutes an abuse of official position, of which Dragan Čović should be well aware.

It is unacceptable for Dragan Čović, instead of being obliged to represent the interests of BiH, to represent the interests of another state and seek to justify the actions of Croatia, which represent an attack on the sovereignty of BiH and are contrary to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the long-term interests of BiH - they stated from the SDA.
