Schumacher receives a mural in Sarajevo for his birthday

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - One of the most successful Formula 1 drivers, Michael Schumacher, received a gift from the children of Sarajevo on his 53rd birthday - a mural measuring 10x13 meters. In this way, the artists of the association Obojena klapa, who realized the mural project with the support of the Goethe-Institut BiH, want to express their gratitude for everything the popular Schumi has done for the children of Sarajevo during and after the war.

Benjamin Čengić, Vedran Poričanin, Emir Mušić and Rijad Hadžić spent the last six days painting the mural, which features the smiling face of the famous German athlete and philanthropist, as well as a Ferrari car, the team with which he achieved his greatest successes.

"We are happy to send a birthday wish to a legend from Sarajevo in this way, and that the mural overlooks the street for which an initiative was launched to be named after Michael Schumacher," say the authors.

The mural is located on a small building overlooking A transverzala in Aerodromsko Naselje, where Schumacher visited the children of Sarajevo, took photos with them, and gave them toys.

Let us remind you, Schumacher visited Sarajevo several times as part of humanitarian activities to help the wounded, especially children. He donated money and other aid, socialized with children, and visited several hospitals.

The seven-time world champion suffered a severe head injury at the end of 2013 and has been in an induced coma ever since. Reminding that Schumacher proved to be a great friend of our country, the artists who painted this mural say that it was conceived as part of the Goethe-Institut BiH campaign called "Ich BiH". Previously, as part of the same campaign, a mural of Albert Einstein was painted in Mostar, which received excellent reactions.
