(Patria) - Berlin will provide Kyiv with another military aid package worth around 1.1 billion euros, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, TASS reported.
"Today we are launching another military aid package for Ukraine worth around 1.1 billion euros," he said. According to Scholz, the package specifically includes "36 tanks or, more precisely, wheeled howitzers, from industrial stocks," as well as 120,000 artillery shells, two new air defense systems, and missiles for IRIS-T.
"The funds allocated by Germany for support to Ukraine and commitments for future expenses amount to approximately 28 billion euros," the Chancellor specified, adding that Berlin ranks second in terms of the amount of military aid to Kyiv.
The Chancellor said that the signing of a bilateral agreement between the two countries is a historic step and stated that the document indicates Germany's intention to support Ukraine "for as long as it takes." The agreement on security commitments and long-term support was signed between Berlin and Kyiv during Zelensky's visit to Germany on Friday.
