Schmidt welcomes decision of Posavina Canton on equality of the Serb people

(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt welcomed the decision of the Assembly of Posavina Canton to adopt amendments to the cantonal Constitution recognizing the equality of the Serb people, the official status of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic script in the canton, as well as the Bosnian language as one of the official languages of the canton.

Respecting the rule of law is the task of all levels of government, and the Assembly of Posavina Canton fulfilled that duty by making a decision yesterday to implement the obligation arising from the 2018 judgment of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of BiH.

The High Representative also calls on the cantonal authorities of West Herzegovina Canton to fulfill their duty, respect the law, and fully implement the judgment of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of BiH, the OHR announced.
