(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt attended today the event "Diaspora Days 2023" in Travnik, and took the opportunity to address the Diaspora Business Forum. Together with Mayor Kenan Dautović, the High Representative also visited successful local companies and spoke with entrepreneurs from the diaspora and Travnik about investment potential in BiH.
He emphasized that maintaining ties between BiH and the diaspora is beneficial for expanding business opportunities and promoting investments both in Travnik and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"BiH and authorities at all levels need to work more on creating a better investment climate, in cooperation with the business community and the BiH diaspora. BiH has a large and successful diaspora, which creates room for numerous cross-border business opportunities and investments. However, it is equally important to work more on creating better opportunities at home so that young people are motivated to stay and live here," added the High Representative.
High Representative Schmidt visited the Catholic School Center "Petar Barbarić" in Travnik and met with Director Željko Marić to learn about the Center's plans and the overall opportunities and challenges in the education sector in Travnik and the Central Bosnia Canton.
During his stay in Travnik, the High Representative also visited the Sulejmanija Mosque and the museum and birthplace of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić together with Mayor Dautović and entrepreneurs Snježana Köpruner and Sanjina Kotlica. At the end of the visit, the High Representative toured the chapel of Saint John Paul II in Margetići.
