Schmidt will not impose 'technical amendments' to the Election Law this week: Postponing the decision at the request of EU diplomats?!

(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt is again considering the option of postponing the imposition of "technical amendments" to the Election Law, the Istraga.ba portal has learned.

According to this media outlet, Schmidt was supposed to impose these amendments by the end of this week. However, European Union diplomats are trying to convince Schmidt to give "domestic leaders" another month to reach an agreement.

The Istraga.ba portal writes that although Schmidt had previously confirmed his intention to impose "technical amendments" to the Election Law, after "additional consultations" he is closer to the option of postponing that imposition.

We remind you that at the end of 2023, the High Representative firmly told BiH politicians that he was giving them a deadline of several weeks to adopt technical amendments to the Election Law. Otherwise, Schmidt said at the time, I will do it.

A lot of time has passed since then, and neither domestic politicians are willing to deal with the integrity of the election process at all, nor is Schmidt decisive enough to oppose, most of all, Dragan Čović, who opposes technical amendments to the Election Law, with the interests of the HDZ leader being protected by EU diplomats as well!

However, now the leaders of the Trojka are also with Čović, because according to Istraga's reporting, they too have asked Schmidt for a postponement of the imposition of amendments to the Election Law.
