Schmid with Komšić: General elections must be held in 2022.

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić received the Secretary General of the OSCE Helga Maria Schmid.

They discussed improving dialogue among all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina and unblocking the work of state institutions. It was emphasized that key reforms must be implemented in our country, primarily relating to electoral reform, judicial and educational system reform, and the fight against corruption and crime.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency pointed out that from the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion, we have reached a situation where the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina are threatened and state institutions are blocked. He believes this could negatively affect the entire region, as well as Europe.

Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid believes that the policy of division will not bring progress to anyone but will negatively affect the economy and investments in BiH, as well as the lives of all its citizens.

The topic of the meeting also included the decriminalization of the electoral process, the necessity of holding General Elections next year, and the implementation of all five judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. The Chairman of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić thanked the OSCE Secretary General for the cooperation and support that the OSCE provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina through the long-standing work of the Mission.
