SBiH: Tomašica and Omarska must not become the future of Bosniaks in Prijedor

After a large group of Serbian extremists, accompanied by police, glorified war criminals and sent threatening messages to Bosniaks in front of the city mosque in Prijedor during the celebration of the unconstitutional holiday of January 9th, the Party for BiH from this city reacted.

- This time, the messages that incite hatred and sow fear in Prijedor are more terrible because they create the impression that extremists have the support of the system. The police should apprehend anyone who spreads hate speech and incites violence against others, and in this case, it looked like they were providing security for such groups, Elvedin Hamzić, president of the Party for BiH in Prijedor, stated for Patria.

The Party for BiH believes that this sent a message to Bosniaks that Tomašica, Omarska, and other Bosniak execution sites could be repeated. In their opinion, the scenes in front of the city mosque cause justified fear among returnees that the RS institutions will not protect them from extremists.

- We call on all political representatives of the city of Prijedor, especially Bosniaks, to urgently request an extraordinary session of the City Council to discuss the security situation in this city, said Hamzić.

The Party for BiH reminds that the new provocations were preceded by offensive murals and graffiti on Prijedor streets. They believe that this was just an introduction to bigger and more serious provocations for returnees, and after the shameful messages in front of the city mosque, they fear what might come next. They remind that 102 children were killed in Prijedor and ask if the 103rd murder should happen.
