Association of Camp Detainees in BiH: A Poor Improvisation and Cheap Pre-election Trick

Reactions to the placement of an improvised cross at Zlatište are still ongoing. The Association of Camp Detainees in BiH most sharply condemns the placement of the cross at Zlatište above Sarajevo. Although it is a very poor improvisation of something that is supposed to represent a monument, we believe that this act, timed to be realized precisely in September 2014, represents nothing more than a cheap pre-election trick by certain structures from RS and a gross provocation of the citizens of Sarajevo who, in the name and on the orders of those same structures, held Sarajevo under siege for 1425 days, and systematically destroyed its infrastructure and killed its citizens, reports Patria.

This procedure represents another step backward on the path towards ensuring lasting peace, coexistence, and mutual respect, as well as efforts to ensure equality and equal rights for all citizens throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We expect the competent institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to investigate and adequately sanction this and similar violent, inappropriate, provocative, and highly politicized actions by those who should represent the non-governmental sector, and the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to sanction the masterminds of this and similar pre-election tricks and provocations that are contrary to the election law.
